The work. It never ends. Sometimes I try not to think about all of the things I have going on. That might make it real and that reality might crush me. So many responsibilities! At other times, I take malicious glee in it, like someone recounting a particularly heroic run at an all-you-can-eat buffet. "Wait. . . you ate two chili dogs AND some chicken fried steak AND you went for dessert?"
So . . . let's examine my gluttony, shall we? (more past the break!)
Sometimes I think that something's got to give. It has in the past, right? And yet, things keep accumulating. It's my inability to say 'no', I suppose.
Now I don't want to be trite and say, "Miles to go before I blah blah blah." Instead . . . this:
THE MODERN ROGUE
More are coming! I promise! It's a lot of work, really. We're trying to come up with a pretty broad variety of things to show you - EXPLOSIONS! BOOZE! HACKING! WEAPONS! FORBIDDEN KNOWLEDGE!
No, seriously. All that, and more.
There's a lot of research that goes into any one episode. Then you've got to worry about supplies, schedules, execution, editing. So . . . a lot of effort just for Brian and I to be jackasses.
Hopefully, you'll have some more skullduggery by the end of the month.
NEW MYSTERY PODCAST!!!!
This is what I'm writing right now. Yes, a new podcast, but not the usual thing you might expect from me. No, it's not 90 minutes of misinformed opinions and offensive jokes. We have enough of those already, wouldn't you say?
This one - and I'll tell it to you lot first - is an audio drama.
Ugh. I kind of hate calling it that. It sounds so old fashioned and stodgy. But it should be fun. I'm writing the scripts right now for what should be about 7 episodes and slowly assembling a team of voice actors - some of them familiar to you, the Select Few.
This one will work as a companion piece to the Black Goat Motorcycle Club, but also stand on its own. Look for it this spring!
DAVID BOWIE, RIP
I have to be honest, I don't really know much about Bowie. I only really understood his impact on music within the last several years. Don't get me wrong - I really like what I'm familiar with, but he's still very much a mystery to me.
Hell, I suspect that he's still a mystery to even his most ardent fans. While I don't have a large scope of knowledge of the man, I do have a huge appreciation for him. The guy was always moving forward, pushing boundaries, and challenging the perception of his art. Take a look at his video for BlackStar. We almost have to invent a new vocabulary just to describe what we thought he was doing.
"Tomorrow belongs to those who can hear it coming."
And now . . . YOUR WORK!
You probably know the drill. Here's where we help each other out. As I've said many times, we've got a good community here, so let's utilize it. The links below? Show these people some love. Leave a comment, if you can. Spread the word.
Another artist! What was I telling you a few weeks ago? I know so many talented people. It's staggering (and a little intimidating).
Mikus is no exception. I'm certainly no comic art connoisseur, but his work reminds me of Moebius, and that's no small compliment.
Check out his work HERE and please leave him some comments!
PALADIN & DAISY ARTS
Dylan and his wife, Alyssa, are writers. Woe unto them! And welcome! These battlefields are littered with the bodies of the fallen, those who have attempted to write, but came home in a body bag. BUT! They're making it happen. There are covers for you to peruse and are this team of scribes are promising that we'll be able to consume said books this year. Check them out HERE.
